1. Originality and Scope

Submissions must be original, fall within the journal’s scope, and not be under consideration by another journal. Authors must disclose any related publications, preprints, thesis origins, conference versions, or overlapping datasets and explain the manuscript’s distinct contribution. Previous dissemination must not be concealed.

2. Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Filipino. All submissions must include an English title, abstract, and keywords. Manuscripts written in Filipino must additionally provide the title, abstract, and keywords in Filipino.

Authors should use clear academic language, consistent terminology, and respectful descriptions of individuals and communities. Filipino-language submissions will be evaluated by reviewers with appropriate linguistic and subject expertise.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Submit the manuscript as an editable Microsoft Word (.docx) file using:

  • A4 page size with 2.54 cm margins.
  • Cambria, 12-point font.
  • Double spacing throughout the main text.
  • Consecutive page numbers and continuous line numbering.
  • Consistent headings and subheadings.
  • APA Style, seventh edition, for citations, references, tables, and figures.

4. Required Submission Files

Upload the following separately:

5. Abstract and Keywords

Provide a 150–250-word abstract summarizing the purpose, approach, principal findings or arguments, and implications. Do not include citations in the abstract. Supply four to six keywords that accurately represent the manuscript.

6. Article Structure

Original research articles should ordinarily include:

  1. Introduction
  2. Theoretical or conceptual framework, where appropriate.
  3. Methods.
  4. Results or findings.
  5. Discussion.
  6. Conclusion, limitations, and implications.
  7. Required declarations.
  8. References.

Results and discussion may be combined when appropriate. Qualitative, theoretical, and other contributions may use structures suited to their research traditions.

Review articles must explain how literature was identified and selected. Systematic and scoping reviews must provide reproducible search and selection procedures. Conceptual articles must present a clear argument and substantive scholarly contribution.

7. Research Ethics and Transparency

For research involving human participants, authors must explain applicable ethics review, approval or exemption, informed consent, and confidentiality procedures. Identify the reviewing body and approval reference when available. Where formal review was not required, explain the basis and the safeguards used.

Authors must disclose funding, conflicts of interest, and relevant limitations. Include a data availability statement explaining whether supporting data can be accessed and any ethical or confidentiality restrictions. Identifiable participant information must not be included without appropriate permission.

8. Authorship and Artificial Intelligence

All listed authors must have made substantive contributions, approved the submitted manuscript, and accepted responsibility for their work. Describe each author’s contribution.

Disclose any use of generative artificial intelligence in drafting, translation, coding, analysis, or image creation, identifying the tool and its purpose. Authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, citations, and confidentiality. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be credited as authors.

9. Citations, Tables, and Figures

Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference entry, and every listed reference must be cited. Include DOI links when available and verify all bibliographic information.

Number tables and figures consecutively, provide descriptive titles, and cite each in the text. Submit editable tables and legible figures. Obtain permission for third-party material where required and acknowledge its source.

10. Editorial Screening and Peer Review

Research, review, conceptual, and methodological articles undergo editorial screening followed by double-anonymous peer review, ordinarily involving at least two independent reviewers. Research notes containing original research follow the same process. Editorials and book reviews undergo editorial assessment and may receive external review.

Authors must remove names, affiliations, acknowledgments, identifying file metadata, and other avoidable identity cues from the review manuscript. Cite previous work neutrally rather than deleting necessary references.

Editorial decisions consider originality, methodological or argumentative rigor, ethical integrity, clarity, and relevance. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.

11. Revisions

Revised submissions must include a point-by-point response to editorial and reviewer comments, a clean manuscript, and a version showing changes. Authors should explain respectfully when a suggested revision has not been adopted.

Manuscript Length

Word limits include the abstract, main text, references, footnotes, and text within tables and figure captions. They exclude the separate title page and supplementary files.

Supplementary materials must support, rather than replace, information essential to understanding and evaluating the article. Exceptions may be considered with an accompanying justification.
