Overview

The Sapientia Filipina: Review of Education and Multidisciplinary Studies (SFREMS) recognizes and respects the intellectual property rights of authors, researchers, reviewers, editors, and other contributors. The journal is committed to protecting original scholarly work while promoting the responsible dissemination, accessibility, and lawful reuse of academic knowledge through open-access publishing.

SFREMS encourages innovation, creativity, and ethical scholarship by ensuring that all published content is managed in accordance with applicable intellectual property laws, licensing requirements, and internationally recognized standards for scholarly publishing.

Ownership of Scholarly Work

Authors retain full copyright and intellectual property rights to their published articles.

Publication in SFREMS does not require authors to transfer ownership of their intellectual property.

Authors retain the right to:

Reuse their published work in future scholarly publications;

Include all or part of their work in books, dissertations, theses, reports, or educational materials;

Deposit the published Version of Record in institutional or subject repositories;

Share their published work through personal websites, institutional webpages, and academic networking platforms;

Present and distribute their work for educational, research, and professional purposes.

Authors remain the owners of their original intellectual contributions throughout and after publication.

Rights Granted to the Journal

Upon acceptance and publication, authors grant SFREMS a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual license to:

Publish and disseminate the article in electronic and print formats;

Archive and preserve the published work through trusted digital preservation systems;

Register Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where applicable;

Include published articles in indexing and abstracting databases;

Promote the published work through scholarly communication channels;

Identify SFREMS as the original publisher of the article.

Because this publishing license is non-exclusive, authors remain free to exercise all copyright rights while acknowledging the original publication in SFREMS.

Open Access and Reuse

All articles published in SFREMS are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

Subject to the terms of this license, users may:

Copy, distribute, and share the material in any medium or format;

Translate, adapt, remix, or build upon the work;

Reuse the material for educational, research, commercial, governmental, or other lawful purposes.

Users must:

Provide appropriate attribution to the original author(s);

Cite SFREMS as the original source of publication;

Include a link to the CC BY 4.0 License;

Clearly indicate whether changes have been made.

No additional legal or technological restrictions may be imposed that would limit the rights granted by the license.

Third-party materials may include:

Any reuse restrictions are clearly identified within the manuscript.

The Editorial Office may request documentation demonstrating that appropriate permissions have been secured.

Intellectual Property of Research Data

Authors retain intellectual property rights over their original research data, software, educational materials, research instruments, and supplementary resources unless otherwise governed by institutional policies, funding agreements, or applicable laws.

Where research outputs are shared publicly, authors should clearly indicate:

Ownership;

Licensing conditions;

Repository information, where applicable;

Access restrictions, if any.

The journal encourages responsible sharing of research outputs while respecting confidentiality, privacy, contractual obligations, and intellectual property rights.

Where appropriate, the journal may:

Request clarification from the parties involved;

Require corrections;

Remove infringing material;

Publish editorial notices;

Retract published articles;

Respect for Intellectual Property

Authors submitting manuscripts to SFREMS confirm that:

Their work is original;

They own the intellectual property rights necessary for publication;

Appropriate permissions have been obtained for third-party materials;

Submission does not infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

Authors remain responsible for resolving any copyright or ownership disputes arising from submitted work.

Journal Name, Logo, and Website Content

The intellectual property associated with the SFREMS journal website—including its name, logo, visual identity, website design, editorial content, graphics, software, and other non-article materials—is owned by the journal or its publisher unless otherwise stated.

These materials are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws and may not be reproduced, modified, distributed, or used without prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

This restriction does not apply to scholarly articles published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License, which remain subject to the permissions granted by that license.

Intellectual Property Disputes

Where intellectual property disputes arise, the Editorial Office may:

Request supporting documentation;

Seek clarification from authors or institutions;

Consult legal or scholarly experts where appropriate;

Suspend editorial processing while concerns are investigated.

Editorial decisions are made fairly, objectively, and in accordance with publication ethics and applicable intellectual property laws.
