Peer Review Process

SFREMS

Overview

Sapientia Filipina: Review of Education and Multidisciplinary Studies (SFREMS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, transparent, and independent peer review process. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a comprehensive editorial assessment followed by expert peer review to evaluate its originality, scholarly merit, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

The peer review process is designed to ensure the publication of high-quality research while providing authors with constructive feedback that enhances the clarity, validity, and scholarly contribution of their work. Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit and are free from commercial, institutional, political, or personal influence.

Type of Peer Review

SFREMS employs a double-blind peer review system.

Double-Blind

Under this model:

The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers.

The identities of reviewers are concealed from authors.

Editorial decisions are based solely on the quality of the submitted work.

All manuscripts are evaluated objectively, fairly, and without discrimination.

The double-blind review process minimizes potential bias and promotes impartial evaluation across the journal's multidisciplinary areas of publication.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial assessment by the Editorial Office and the Editor-in-Chief before being sent for external review.

The editorial screening evaluates whether the manuscript:

Falls within the aims and scope of SFREMS;

Demonstrates originality and scholarly significance;

Complies with the journal's formatting and submission requirements;

Meets ethical and research integrity standards;

Includes all required declarations and supporting documentation;

Demonstrates acceptable language quality and academic writing;

Successfully passes similarity screening.

Manuscripts that fail to satisfy these preliminary requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or declined without external peer review.

External Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully complete editorial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers with demonstrated expertise in the relevant discipline.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on criteria including:

Originality and novelty;

Relevance to the journal's aims and scope;

Significance of the research problem;

Theoretical and practical contribution;

Methodological rigor;

Appropriateness of research design and analytical methods;

Accuracy and interpretation of results;

Organization, clarity, and quality of presentation;

Adequacy and currency of references;

Ethical compliance;

Contribution to multidisciplinary knowledge and practice.

Reviewers are encouraged to provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based comments that assist both the authors and the editors in improving the quality of submitted manuscripts.

Reviewer Selection

Reviewers are selected based on their:

Academic qualifications;

Subject-matter expertise;

Research experience;

Publication record;

Professional independence;

Absence of conflicts of interest.

Authors may recommend qualified reviewers during submission; however:

Reviewer suggestions are entirely optional.

The Editorial Office independently evaluates all recommendations.

Suggested reviewers may or may not be invited.

Final reviewer selection rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Academic Editor.

Reviewers must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.

Editorial Decisions

Following peer review, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Academic Editor considers the reviewers' recommendations together with the overall scholarly quality of the manuscript before making an editorial decision.

Possible editorial decisions include:

Accept

Reject

The Editor-in-Chief retains final responsibility for all publication decisions.

Clearly indicate all revisions made to the manuscript;

Submit the revised files within the timeframe specified by the Editorial Office.

Major revisions may be returned to the original reviewers or additional reviewers for further evaluation.
